In Roman times, a centurion could force someone to carry their gear for a mile. If you were picked, it didn’t matter what else you had to do that day. You walked a mile with their gear.

It’s not obedience to do something I already want to do. Nobody has to make me eat ice cream. I already want to eat it, so I do. Most of the time, obedience requires us to do something we don’t want to do.

Generosity is giving abundantly. Acts 2:42-47 addresses the needs of others and how the early church responded. This generous giving was supposed to be happening in the old temple under the law but it was being neglected.

Mother Teresa was a nun with meager resources. But she felt compelled to serve the poorest of the poor in Calcutta, India. When asked how she would build an orphanage with only three pennies, she simply said, “With God and three pennies, I can do anything.”

As we seek to follow Christ, we have a choice: Today, Obey or Time Out. The Spirit wants us to choose to obey now and follow his lead. The flesh and the enemy want us to resist and call a time out. What choice will you make?

Having your priorities in order can change your life. Think about the most important things you need to do. Write down your top 6 priorities. Start with the first one. Do this one and nothing else until it is done. Then move to the next.
